What is NexusAI?
NexusAI is a Windows add-in for Autodesk Revit 2021–2027. You describe an outcome in plain language.
It inspects the open model, searches the Revit API, executes Python, verifies the result, and retries
until the work is done.
It is built by Project Nexus LLC in Orlando, Florida. A subscription is required to use the
add-in; Individual plans start with a 14-day free trial. Start from the product overview or
download the installer.
How is NexusAI different from a Revit chat assistant?
Most Revit AI tools answer questions. NexusAI completes the work.
A chat assistant can tell you which API to call or sketch a Dynamo graph. NexusAI runs a closed
agentic loop inside the live document: collect model data, look up the correct method signatures,
execute automation, verify what actually changed, and iterate with targeted code edits. You watch
reasoning, API search, execution, and verification stream in real time.
The architecture is written up in
Inside the Agentic Loop.
Revit API vs Dynamo vs agentic AI: which should I use?
Use each for what it is good at. Dynamo and compiled C# add-ins remain the right tools for a known,
repeatable standard. NexusAI is for work that has to fit this client, this project, this model, and
this user.
- Dynamo is the right tool for a visual graph a BIM manager can own and tweak.
Sharing those graphs is hard: package dependencies and version mismatches break a script the
moment it leaves the author's machine. A graph is also hard-coded to the parameter names,
families, and conventions it was built against.
- A compiled Revit API add-in (C#) is the right tool for a productized command
you will ship: ribbon buttons, transactions, failure handling, and a known input contract. Like
Dynamo, it encodes assumptions about the model. When those assumptions do not hold, the command
fails, partially fails, or writes something that still needs a manual pass.
- Both struggle the moment they run on someone else's model. Client and project requirements
change. Revit is customizable, so parameter names change. Firms have different standards, and
people want to work in different ways. A tool written for one template rarely survives the
next.
- Agentic AI (NexusAI) writes the automation against the model that is actually
open. It inspects live project data, searches the Revit API for the signatures that exist in
this Revit year, executes Python, and checks the result. The run is custom for the client, the
project, the model, and the user, not a one-size graph or add-in reused until it breaks.
Teams often keep Dynamo and add-ins for firm standards. NexusAI covers the work those tools cannot
travel with: a new client, a different template, a one-off request, or a model that does not match
last year's assumptions. If a request later deserves a compiled add-in,
consulting is set up for that.
Which Revit versions does NexusAI support?
One signed installer covers Revit 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 on Windows 10 and
Windows 11. The add-in adapts API calls to the year that is actually running, so a mixed-version firm
does not need seven packages.
The notes on one codebase across seven Revit versions explain
how a single source tree targets .NET Framework 4.8, .NET 8, and .NET 10.
Do I need to know Python or the Revit API?
No. You describe the outcome. NexusAI writes and runs the Python. You can read the streamed script if
you want to review it; you do not have to author it.
Python and API knowledge still help when you want to steer a difficult task or review what changed.
They are not a prerequisite.
Is it safe to let AI-generated code run in my Revit model?
The add-in does not dump arbitrary script into the document. Before execution, code is checked for
forbidden operations. Writes run in scoped Revit transactions so a failed step can roll back. After
a model-changing script, NexusAI measures the result in Revit and, for geometric work, renders an
annotated image of what changed. It uses both to decide whether to continue or retry. You can stop
a run cooperatively.
Read Transactions and Failure Handling for the
failure-processing design.
How do I install NexusAI?
Download the signed installer from the download page, run it on Windows
10/11, and open Revit. The NexusAI button is on the Add-Ins tab; press F1 over it for
help. A NexusAI subscription or Individual free trial is required to use the
add-in. One installer covers Revit 2021–2027.
Enterprise deployment (silent install, the ApplicationPlugins bundle, EV code signing, antivirus
reputation) is covered in
Signing and Deploying a Revit Add-in.
How much does NexusAI cost?
Every Individual plan starts with a 14-day free trial. You add a card at sign-up and nothing is
charged until the trial ends; cancel in Settings any time before then. The trial includes a starter
AI allowance and a limited model selection. Every model unlocks when your plan starts. One trial per person,
card, and computer.
Individual plans: Starter at $20/month (1× monthly AI usage), Plus at $40 (2×), Pro at $60 (3×), and
Max at $100 (5×). Enterprise is $100 per seat per month for the first 12 months under the Founders
Program ($200/seat after that). All paid plans include the full agentic loop, Revit 2021–2027, and
the current set of frontier models.
See homepage pricing or
Enterprise.
What does Enterprise include that Individual does not?
Microsoft Entra ID single sign-on, team and seat management, a usage analytics dashboard, machine binding,
compliance and audit tools, and priority support. The agentic loop and version coverage are the
same.
Which AI models can I use?
NexusAI ships with frontier models from leading providers, each with native tool use across the
agentic toolchain. You pick the model for the task and budget. New releases are added as they
ship.
Does NexusAI work with workshared models and BIM 360 / ACC?
Yes. It operates on the document you have open in Revit, including workshared local copies. Sync,
relinquish, and publish remain your firm's usual Revit workflow. Cloud collaboration (BIM 360 / ACC)
is supported the same way any other add-in is: the add-in talks to the local Revit session, not to
Autodesk's cloud in place of it.
Where does my model data go?
Live Revit context and script results travel to NexusAI's cloud so the agent can plan, call tools,
and verify work. The add-in executes Python locally inside Revit. See the
Privacy Policy for data handling, and
Enterprise for SSO, audit logging, and machine binding.
Why are there other products called NexusAI?
The name is crowded. This site (getnexusai.net, Project Nexus LLC) is the Autodesk Revit add-in for
agentic model automation. It is not an IT service-management suite, not an open-source agent
framework, and not a Framer or website template. If a search result does not mention Revit, BIM, or
Autodesk, it is a different product.
Do you build custom Revit add-ins?
Yes. Contract and white-label Revit API work is available through
Consulting: C# add-ins, Autodesk Platform Services, agentic loops,
code signing, and multi-version packaging. Typical availability is 25–30 hours per week. Email

day. Enterprise customers have priority support.
